Many insurance companies offer out-of-network coverage. This means that you may be able to have part of the costs reimbursed by your insurance, even if your therapist does not accept your insurance.  You should contact your insurance company to find out if you have out-of-network benefits, and if so, what your costs would be under their out-of-network coverage.  In this case, you will pay for your session costs upfront, and then you will be provided with paperwork known as a Superbill to send to your insurance for reimbursement. 

Seeing an out-of-network therapist is relatively common for people with (and without) insurance. There are a few reasons for this.  In-network therapists aren’t always available.  Also, people may also go out of network to see therapists with niche expertise in specific conditions, populations, or therapeutic techniques. Additionally,  out-of-network providers can offer more individualized care because they’re not contracted by insurance carriers who impose their own limitations regarding care.  Some patients choose to not use insurance at all and instead opt for private pay (also called self-pay) because billing insurance requires a formal diagnosis.  If you don’t want a diagnostic code on your medical record, you could tell a therapist you’d rather not use your health insurance for payment. 

Pricing varies by provider and can range between $95 to $175 for individual 50-minute sessions.  Couples or family sessions range between $125 and $195 for 50-minute sessions. 

We accept a limited number of clients on a sliding scale basis, which simply means, we look at your income and agree upon a lower rate.  How much the rate can be lowered will depend on several factors.
